Change coming in 2014 to Anthem’s Small Group medical plans for Health Care Reform
In 2014, we will make a change in our regulatory filings for our 2-50 Small Group medical plans. Please note that we’re not leaving the California Small Group market.
Starting January 1, 2014, we’ll no longer issue new Small Group medical plans under Anthem Blue Cross Life and Health. Those plans have been filed with the California Department of Insurance (CDI). Instead, we’ll file those plans under Anthem Blue Cross with the Department of Managed Health Care.
With this change, we’ll no longer amend or renew active Small Group medical plans upon renewal on or after January 1, 2014.
The plans that will be affected by this change are:
- Solution 5000 PPO
- Elements Hospital Preferred
- Elements Hospital Plus
- PPO $25 Copay GenRx
- PPO $35 Copay GenRx
- PPO $45 Copay GenRx
- Lumenos HRA 3000D
- Lumenos HRA 3000C
- Lumenos HRA 5000D
- Lumenos HRA 5000C
This change won't affect Small Group dental, vision or life plans filed with the CDI. We'll continue to offer those plans to Small Groups.
We'll send a notice to all impacted 2-50 Small Groups about the change. Those groups will also get more information 90 days before their renewal. They'll have the choice (upon renewal) to move to any Anthem Blue Cross Small Group HIX plan(s) without their employees needing underwriting.
